First Flush was the result of a pitch by Teekanne in 2012 for a design development for a tea capsule machine for the home. The concept deliberately positions itself diametrically opposed to coffee culture and focuses on deceleration and sensuality, as well as Asian aesthetic references. Curved lines similar to Asian architecture, haptically interesting surfaces and sensual materials emphasize the almost contemplative character of ceremonial tea culture.
